Hello Don Durs,
Deleting the Verizon Messages (Message+) app from a device or switching to another messaging app, even the default messaging app on the device, won't stop the storage of messages. Refer to Message Retention in the Terms and Conditions for more information. Then, make sure app icon badges is clicked on. Then, click the words general notifications to enter another screen with more in depth options. You can select the words 'importance' to enter that screen and keep or remove the pop up preview. Also on the general notification area, there is another app icon badges to tick on or off. In the Messages app on your Mac, click the Compose button to start a new message (or use the Touch Bar). Do one of the following: Send a message to one person: Type a name, an email address, or a phone number in the To field. As you type, Messages suggests matching addresses from your Contacts app or from people you’ve previously sent messages to.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand you're trying to send iMessages to an Android device. Since iMessage works only with Mac or iOS devices you will need to set up text message forwarding. To get this set up please follow the directions below.
With Continuity, all the SMS and MMS text messages you send and receive on your iPhone also appear on your Mac, iPad, and iPod touch. Even if the person you’re communicating with doesn’t have an iPhone. And regardless of what phone they have, you can reply from whichever device is closest to you, including your iPad or Mac. You can also initiate a conversation by clicking a phone number in Safari, Contacts, or Calendar.
To use Continuity for SMS and MMS with your iPhone and your Mac, iPad or iPod touch
Your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch need to use iOS 8.1, and your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
Estimate sign estimating software.
Take care.
